Site Description
Lethbridge is a city of 100,000+ in southern Alberta. The region is known for ranching, potato farming, corn, and other irrigated agriculture; production of potato products for McCain, Lays, and Cavendish; large indigenous population as well as Hutterites, Mennonites, and LDS.
The Canadian Rocky Mountains can be seen from various places in the city and are just an hour and a half drive away from Lethbridge. You will also encounter coulees here, which line the river valley that splits West Lethbridge from North and South Lethbridge. It is also famous for its trestle bridge stretching over the coulees and the Old Man River and is the largest railway structure in Canada.
Lethbridge also has a high level of homelessness and poverty, with statistics showing over 500 people experiencing homelessness in 2024, as well as a large indigenous population.

Facilities
You’ll be sleeping in the church facility with showers off-site. There is a kitchen, washrooms, gymnasium, and A/C in the church, and a big open green space right across the road with frisbee golf and a playground.
Day Away
We will be visiting Waterton Lakes National Park! Plan for some hiking, possibly some swimming, and lots of sightseeing of God’s beautiful creation!
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones are not allowed during the SERVE week at this site for students. Cell phones may be used during the travel from your church to the SERVE site, but then are not allowed to be used during the SERVE week. Adult leaders will have their cell phones during the week.
Additional Information
Lethbridge can get quite hot and dry in the summertime, and sunscreen and moisturizer will be important things to keep on hand. Lethbridge can also get fairly windy, so be prepared to put your hair in a ponytail and hold on to your hats!
Transportation
Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each church group must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) for the entire mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans, SUVs, or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call the ThereforeGo Ministries office to discuss options and additional potential charges.
