SERVE Projects
Throughout the week we’ll engage in a variety of meaningful activities designed to support and uplift our local community, followed by service and a revitalization experience at Eagles Nest Ranch.
Days 1-3: Community Service and Outreach
Our week kicks off with a mix of work projects and community outreach ensuring all groups get a diverse and engaging experience.
- Women’s Shelter Project: We will lend a helping hand at the local women’s shelter offering support and contributing to the care of those in need.
- Prairie Gleaners: Join us in cutting and drying produce to those who are food insecure, making a difference for those in need.
- The Mustard Seed: Help us support this vital organization that provides food, shelter, and other essential services to vulnerable populations.
- Root Cellar Garden and Food Bank: Assist in maintaining the community garden and food bank, which plays a crucial role in providing fresh produce and essentials to those in need.
- Free Car Wash and Coffee Giveaway: Spread joy and generosity by offering a free car wash and serving complimentary coffee to our neighbors, brightening their day and building community spirit.
Days 4-5: Service and Fun at Eagles Nest Ranch
After our impactful local outreach, we’ll journey to Eagles Nest Ranch, a Christian Bible camp nestled in the picturesque Cypress Hills, just a short 50-minute bus ride away.
- Beautification Projects: At the ranch, we will engage in various beautification projects to enhance the camp’s environment and facilities.
- Special Projects: Contribute to special tasks that support the ongoing operations and mission of Eagles Nest Ranch.
- Overnight Stay and Free Day: Enjoy a night of fellowship and rest at the ranch, followed by a free day to explore the scenic beauty of Eagles Nest and the nearby town of Elkwater.

Facilities
Medicine Hat Christian School will be our home base for the week of service and fun! MHCS is perfectly set up to accommodate girls and boys wings, A/C, showers, a central foyer for games and gathering, a gymnasium, and a large outdoor space. We will eat, sleep, worship, and enjoy fellowship in this great venue!
Day Away
A Day to Remember: Celebrating the End of Our SERVE Project
After a week of dedicated work and community service, it’s time to take a well-deserved break and celebrate our collective efforts with a day full of fun and relaxation.
Our adventure begins at Eagles Nest Ranch, where we dive into a variety of exciting activities. Whether it’s horseback riding through scenic trails or trying our hand at archery, the ranch offers something for everyone, setting a lively and engaging tone for the day.
Next, we head to Cypress Hills Provincial Park and the charming town of Elkwater. Elkwater, with its wealth of outdoor activities, is the perfect destination for our day away.
Once we arrive in the town of Elkwater, we’ll make our way to Elkwater’s beach. Here, we have the chance to relax and enjoy a range of water activities, including swimming and paddleboarding. The beach is the ideal spot for unwinding and having fun under the sun.
For those looking for a bit more action, we also have opportunities for friendly competition with mini golf and disc golf. These activities add an extra layer of fun and camaraderie to our day.
As the sun begins to set, we’ll gather for a catered dinner beside the lake.
Reflecting on the day it’s clear that this break is not just a reward but also a meaningful conclusion to the week of serving together. It reminds us of the importance of balance and the joy that comes from combining hard work with moments of fun.
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones are not allowed during the SERVE week at this site for students. Cell phones may be used during the travel from your church to the SERVE site, but then are not allowed to be used during the SERVE week. Adult leaders will have their cell phones during the week.
Transportation
Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each church group must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) for the entire mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans, SUVs, or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call the ThereforeGo Ministries office to discuss options and additional potential charges.
Nearest Airport
Calgary International Airport (YYC) is 2.5 hours west of Medicine Hat and is best to travel into for rental vehicle options and ensuring accurate travel schedules. Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received email confirmation from ThereforeGo Ministries that you have been placed at this site.
