We work with a couple of area ministries to help us find our job sites for our SERVE week. We also work with a local food pantry and a few other organizations in Grand Rapids. Some examples of job site tasks are;
- Inside and outside clean up around the Byron Center area
- and more!
You’ll get to experience the best of both the city and the country in Byron Center. We’re close to rolling farmlands and to the thriving metropolitan area of Grand Rapids. This gives us a unique perspective on the needs of people who come from various backgrounds. Our goal is to meet the needs of people in our community as we harness the energy and potential of middle school students willing to work hard during this summer mission trip, make an impact and have a whole lot of fun. We can’t wait to meet you and look forward to the things we will all learn together during this exciting week of service. God will surely do great things among us.
Please note: this site is for students who have completed Grades 6, 7, 8.
You will be staying at Friendship Christian Reformed Church, where you’ll be sleeping on carpeted floors in classrooms. Showers will be at South Christian High School. Praise and worship will be held at Friendship CRC in the Youth Room each night. We also have games every day. The Youth Room will also be open during free time where you can hang out, enjoy the snack bar or play foosball or a game of pool. Friendship CRC has a full sized gym for basketball and volleyball and a sitting area where cards and games may be played. The whole facility is air-conditioned.
Participants will enjoy a day at the lake! Michigan has perfect beach sand, bright sunshine, beautiful water, and plenty of outdoor activities to keep you grinning from ear to ear all day!
Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each church group must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) for the entire mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call the ThereforeGo Ministries office to discuss options and additional charges.
Grand Rapids, MI (GRR). Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received email confirmation from ThereforeGo Ministries that you have been placed at this site.
