In Church Partnership With
Children's Haven Camp
Our worksites will be a blend of city worksites, local town projects, and Camp Chilaven projects. We partner with Elm Park Community School and the Douglas Public Schools during the school year. We will be assisting them with projects that help them get ready for the new school year. At camp, there will be maintenance and property improvement opportunities. We also are hoping to offer a family “carnival” where the SERVE team partners with The Haven to host The Haven families and possibly some refugee families affiliated with a partner organization.
Children’s Haven is a unique ministry nestled in the Blackstone Valley area of Massachusetts. “The Haven” works with children and teens from Worcester, MA, the second largest city in New England. The majority of our city families are unchurched, low-income, and broken. The parents desire their children to have a better life and see The Haven as an extension of their family. The Haven also works with children and teens from smaller towns in southern MA. These children, while not from the city, also come laden with burdens and baggage. These families also face the daily struggles of unemployment, relationship struggles, and drugs that we see in our city families. Camp weaves these lives of difficult cultures and environments together into a tapestry of variety and beauty. Teens from our program will be working with you and serving you, as well. The majority of these high school students are unchurched.
Participants stay in Cabins with bunk beds. Our camp bathhouse provide on-site showers and all meals are served family style in the camp Dining Hall. The swimming pool is open before supper and other activities are available. We end each day with worship, s’mores, and free time in our campfire area.
Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each church group must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) for the entire mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call the ThereforeGo Ministries office to discuss options and additional charges.
TF Green Airport – Providence, RI (PVD). Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received email confirmation from ThereforeGo Ministries that you have been placed at this site.
