Site Description
The city of Redlands is located in beautiful sunny Southern California, about an hour and fifteen-minute drive east of Los Angeles. Redlands is also an hour drive from the beach, mountains and desert, making its location prime! The River CRC is located on the south side of Redlands where the citrus in the air is thick twice a year from the citrus blossoms. Due to its location, participants should be prepared for very warm weather! Though Redlands has much to offer, there is much need in the city. Redlands SERVE is an opportunity to help meet the needs of our city. Participants will be serving in many capacities that offer them opportunities for a change of perspective and will also have opportunities to grow in their faith as they worship in various locations throughout beautiful Southern California.
You will be staying at The River CRC. The River has a main building with a worship center, kitchen, fellowship area and various classrooms. This building will house most of our worship and group activities, as well as our meals. This is also where the female participants will be housed. The River also has an office building with a smaller worship center in it where the male participants will be housed. Don’t worry, all facilities are air conditioned to keep you cool during our HOT summer! Showers will be offered off campus at a local high school or at shower homes.
Known as Surf City USA, Huntington Beach is known for its cool, blue, pacific water. Participants will have the opportunity to swim in the pacific, enjoy the local shops, learn to surf, and enjoy a milkshake from Ruby’s on the pier. Huntington also offers fire pits for our evening dinner hot dog roast and will be the perfect location for our sunset worship.
Get Directions
Registration fees do NOT include transportation to and from the sites. Each youth missionary group must provide vehicle(s) and adult driver(s) (typically small group leaders) to transport an equal number of youth participants during the duration of the mission experience regardless of whether you fly or drive to the site. The vehicles you bring will be used to transport small youth missionary groups to the work site each day, so 12-passenger vans or mini-vans are preferred. Cars do not facilitate the transportation of an entire small group in one vehicle, so please do not bring them. If you wish to bring a bus, please check with the Host Team to see if this is acceptable before you make arrangements. If your group is unable to provide van transportation, please have a youth leader call the ThereforeGo Ministries office to discuss options and additional charges.
Ontario International Airport ONT (Highly Recommended). You can also fly into John Wayne Airport, Orange County, or the Palm Springs Airport. LAX is an option but due to traffic it may take more than 2-3 hours to arrive at The River Church from this airport. Please DO NOT book airfare until you have received email confirmation from ThereforeGo Ministries that you have been placed at this site.
NOTE: Temperatures in Redlands can reach triple digits in July, please be prepared for very warm weather and be aware that you will need to drink a lot of water while here. Please make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen.
